A Rainy Day Maternity Session | Seattle Maternity & Newborn Photographer

I know I mentioned it in my last post, but I have had many maternity sessions this past few months. I think often we as women feel self conscious about our pregnant bodies. I know I did. So much change and so much out of our control. It can seem strange to want to document it. But what I have found is that you may regret not having maternity photos taken but you will never regret having them done. I love capturing mothers during this time in their lives. It goes so fast and is a time she will surely look back on and want to remember.

This mother and I met in her home on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Just she and I as her family had other engagements. We spoke about motherhood and birth, challenges and triumphs, and simply got to know each other, which I am always so grateful for before a newborn session as there is already so much going on when you have a new baby. I so enjoyed meeting this calm and peaceful mama and I can't wait to meet her little one when he arrives.

Expecting | Seattle Maternity & Newborn Photographer

I have photographed so many expecting couples this past month which means there will be many newborns ahead. Seems so fitting with it being spring.

I am always so excited when a family purchases my maternity and newborn package because it means we get to know each other before the newborn session, which is so intimate. This sweet couple is excepting their first baby any day now. I could literally feel their anticipation. You know the feeling, excitement, joy, and let's admit it, fear. But this baby is sure to be loved fiercely, as these two are obviously very much in love. Seattle offers the best scenery for photographs, I am so luck to be a photographer in Seattle. Stay tuned for their newborn session.

How can it be that I have know these two for fifteen years? We met when we were all attending college at Seattle University.  Alicia and I were in nursing school together so we got very close. Nursing school is hard and we spent many hours studying and preparing to be a nurse. Thankfully, we have stayed close over the years and we all try and see each other as much as our busy lives allow. We both have three active kiddos so it can be challenging. I have captured their family many times and I was excited when they suggested Seattle University as a location. It holds so much meaning to us all and it was pretty fun to explore with their kiddos. We would never have been able to predict who these kids would be or how rich their lives would be way back when we were living day to day off minimal sleep and maybe a little to much beer. ;) I know what you might be thinking when you look at this family. Are they for real? They are so beautiful it seems unfair.  Well, let me tell you one thing, they are far more beautiful on the inside and these two are some of the most kick ass parents I know.  I am just lucky to know them!

I can't wait to see where we capture them this year! It just keeps getting better and better! Enjoy.

I usually like to give my maternity and newborn session their own blog post, but these two sessions were done so close together that it just feels right to put them together.  Let me explain, Veronica and Jon were expecting their third baby.  I met them three and a half years ago when they were expecting their first baby.  We met at Discovery park on a gorgeous August evening. It was just the two of them then.  When that first baby was born, I captured their sweet baby girl in the town home they lived in.  Just fifteen months later they welcomed their second baby into the world, and I was lucky enough to be invited into their new home to capture their second daughter.  Well, just a little over a year later they were about to welcome their third baby.  They had only scheduled a newborn photography session.  Veronica messages me on Facebook saying "you know, I think I might want to remember this pregnancy, my last, with my two big girls, can you squeeze me in?" Well, of course I said yes!  We had such a sweet little maternity session where the focus was on the two little girls.  Then, I got to come into their home once more to meet their third baby which was a boy! My heart is so full. I have had the privilege of watching this sweet family grow and it has been so much fun!  Our lives move fast, faster when we have little ones.  Of course we will always have memories, but photographs make them tangible.  Enjoy this families story, I know I have.

The best part of my family photography business is that I get to see families grow. I have captured this family many times and we always have a great time.  Carrie, the mama said she has a goal to be photographed at every park in Seattle.  Done!  I am up for that challenge as Seattle has an abundance of parks and beaches.  When she suggested this park I was very excited as it is very Seattle.  It has greenery, views, and beautiful architecture. Seattle is a very special place and it is so much fun to photograph families in all it's beauty.
