In home newborn photography session in Seattle with a calm, relaxed baby

Before I became a newborn photographer, I was a NICU nurse. That experience shapes everything about how I photograph newborns today.

For new parents, especially those in the early days after birth, feeling safe, understood, and supported matters just as much as the photos themselves. My nursing background allows me to bring a level of calm, awareness, and care into newborn sessions that goes far beyond the camera.

I understand newborns on a deeper level

Working in the NICU meant caring for babies at their most vulnerable. I learned how to read subtle cues, how to handle infants gently and confidently, and how to prioritize safety in every moment.

That knowledge carries directly into newborn photography.

I am always watching your baby’s breathing, color, tone, and comfort. If something feels off, we pause. If your baby needs to eat, be held, or simply rest, we follow their lead.

There is never a rush.

Safety always comes first

Newborn photography should never feel stressful or forced.

Newborn photography in the Seattle area focused on safety and comfort

Because of my background as a NICU nurse, safety is not something I learned later. It is foundational. I am mindful of positioning, temperature, stimulation, and handling at all times.

Parents often tell me they feel an immediate sense of relief knowing their baby is being photographed by someone who understands newborn care at a professional level.

That peace of mind matters.

I support parents, not just babies

The newborn stage can feel tender and overwhelming. As a former NICU nurse, I understand postpartum recovery, feeding challenges, sleep deprivation, and the emotional shifts that happen during this time.

I create space for breaks. I encourage parents to sit, rest, and take their time. I never expect you to push through discomfort for the sake of photos.

Your wellbeing is just as important as your baby’s.

Calm energy changes everything

Newborns are incredibly sensitive to energy. When things feel calm, they tend to settle more easily.

My nursing background trained me to move slowly, speak softly, and stay grounded in high pressure situations. That calm carries into every newborn session.

It helps babies relax. It helps parents relax. And it creates an environment where natural, connected moments can unfold.

Experience matters in the early days

Anyone can learn how to use a camera. Not everyone understands newborns.

Being a former NICU nurse gives me a unique perspective and skill set that directly benefits families during one of the most vulnerable seasons of life.

It allows me to photograph your baby with confidence, care, and deep respect for this moment.
